About

As the flawed 2016 presidential election of Donald J. Trump continues to wreak havoc on democracy, decency and humanity, I am more determined than ever to fight back.

In 2018, I left the comfortable confines of a steady, rewarding career to devote my energies to advocating for those in harm’s way. In 2019, I made two trips to the U.S.-Mexico border at San Isidro/Tijuana to volunteer with organizations helping migrants.

I will continue to advocate for the oppressed in ways that make the best use of my skills as a journalist, advocate and compassionate human being.

I’m a professional journalist with more than 30 years of experience as a newspaper reporter, academic medical university writer, freelancer and blogger. My strengths include putting people at ease in interviews, and then presenting stories in an honest and fair manner.

  1. Hello, Jim! Mark suggested I check out your blog–wonderful, thought-provoking musings. I wonder if you’re a part of the DWC? Your name is familiar to me. Anyway, great stuff, and I look forward to future posts from you. 🙂

    1. Thank you, Ermine … not sure what DWC is. Mark and I worked together for years at “the big daily,” as he calls it.

  5. Ah, thank you sir … I might have to pass this time. We have additional good company for the next 3 weeks, from the state of Michigan! (Don’t tell my fellow Buckeyes!) MG’s gallery show opening is Saturday, after Paige’s Butterfly Run where I’ll be calling out times at the 2-mile mark. On the heels of four days in Vermont, I’m having a hard time keeping up with reading, much less writing!
